UAE Parliamentary Division participates in meetings of four major committees of Arab Parliament in Khartoum

A UAE Parliamentary Division from the Federal National Council, FNC, today participated in the meetings of the four major committees of the Arab Parliament, during the second session of its Second Legislative Chapter, which was held in Khartoum, Sudan.

The UAE delegation included FNC members Jassim Abdullah Al Naqbi, Member of the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Committee; Khalid Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Head of the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs; Aisha Salem bin Samnoh, Member of the Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs, Women and Youth; Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Member of the Foreign Affairs and Political Affairs and National Security Committee in the Arab Parliament; and Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the FNC.

During the meetings, the Foreign Affairs and Political Affairs and Arab National Security Committee discussed its accomplishments related to foreign and political affairs and Arab national security, and updates on the situation in Palestine and Arab national security, as well as the Iranian occupation of the three Emirati islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, as well as the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
 
The delegation also highlighted the UAE’s steady approach and its legitimate right to sovereignty over the three islands, while renewing the country’s demands to solve this issue by peaceful means, through direct bilateral dialogue or the International Court of Justice.

It then stressed the importance of creating a region free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, to consolidate international security and peace, as well as establishing a unified Arab strategy to face terrorism and extremism, and the necessity of combatting and not tolerating those who support, promote and fund terrorism and hate speech.

The delegation also noted the necessity of uniting efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its sources of funding.

The Foreign Affairs and Political Affairs and Arab National Security Committee asserted the necessity of adopting the recommendation from its fifth meeting during the first session of the Second Legislative Chapter, which was held in Cairo, Egypt, on 3rd and 4th July, 2017.
