Ex-India Test player Parthasarthi Sharma dies

Former India Test batsman Parthasarthi Sharma died of gallbladder cancer on Wednesday aged 62, the Press Trust of India reported.

Sharma played five Tests between 1974 and 1977, scoring 187 runs, including 54 on his debut against Clive Lloyd's West Indies at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground in New Delhi.

Sharma, who came from the western state of Rajasthan, was a prolific scorer in domestic cricket, making 8,614 runs in 152 matches at an average of 39.15 with 18 centuries.
