How can you beat spider phobia....get one

Many people who struggle to conquer their phobia of something could finally resort to medical advice. But that was not the case with a British woman, who had great fear of spiders. She simply bought one and made it her pet.

The technique did work as the woman not only does not fear spiders any more, but she has many of them in her bed room.

Cassandra Tainsh, 20, said she had bought a giant Chilean tarantula and gave it accommodation in her bedroom before bringing six more.

She even bought the first spider, called Pandora, a tiny TV, table and chairs.

“I used to have a massive phobia of spiders…..just before I got Pandora, I had to get my mum to get one out of my room while I was shaking and crying in the corner,” said the girl from the northwestern English town of Leeds.

“But I went to a garden centre and there was an animal charity that let people handle a tarantula. I thought if I got one of my own, maybe I could overcome my fear.”

Cassandra, quoted by many British tabloid newspapers, said she had since bought another six tarantulas, which live in her bedroom.

“I get them furniture for a bit of fun….and a lot of people I’ve shown the pictures to have said they used to be afraid like I was….but the pictures I’ve taken have made them laugh and made spiders seem much less scary,” she said.

“Pandora is still pretty much the one who’s in charge. A lot of my friends were freaked out at first but after a while they all started asking what she was up to. That’s why I started doing things like dressing her up and getting her furniture.”
