Woman genetically born as man gives birth to twins

A woman who was genetically born a male gave birth to twins.

Hayley Haynes had neither ovaries or fallopian tubes and was technically a man and all through her teen years she was told she could never conceive due to a rare condition called androgen insensitivity syndrome, reported Metro.

The 28-year-old new mom recalled how doctors grew a womb inside her and the emotional pain she suffered because she desperately wanted to be a mother.

She was quoted as telling ‘Daily Mirror’ that she felt “embarrassed…confused and sick… My biggest fear was never having children… ‘How I was going to tell a guy I was genetically male when I started dating”

IVF was the option for Haynes and her husband once the womb was ready, but then they were left to fund the expensive treatment. The determined couple raised £10,500.

And once the treatment began, she was told that she had a 60 per cent chance of getting pregnant using an egg donor. She was now really worried. “We had  only had one shot and couldn’t afford to go through it all again…what if there were no viable eggs or the implantation wasn’t successful…” she was quoted as saying.

Fortunately all went well and she gave birth to twins Avery and Darcey.
