Behal rocks to stop bulldozing NHormus

Multiplex Sindhi Rockstars bounced back to end the unbeaten run of NHormus Divine Sindhis with a 38-run win in the Sindhi Premier Cricket League at The Sevens ground on Sunday night.

Organised by the Sindhi Cricket Club, the tournament is being held under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

After two straight defeats Multiplex desperately needed a win to make their presence felt in the tournament. But they were taking on a team that was bristling with confidence after four successive wins.

Rohit Behal was the architect of Multiplex Rockstars's resurgence as he stopped the bulldozing NHormus with a fine all-round performance.

Behal first cracked an unbeaten 68 and later bagged two crucial wickets to ensure his side finally tasted victory in their third match.

Rockstars, put in to bat, made 187 for 7 with their openers Akash Sapru (15) and Vikram Bhatia (22) giving them a steady start.

Once they departed Behal and Ajay Sajnani combined well for a rock-solid partnership of 93 runs which gave their side a firm footing.

Behal played some delectable shots on both sides of the wicket. His 46-ball knock contained nine sweetly-timed hits to the fence.

Ajay too kept the board ticking with singles and twos during his run-a-ball 29 before he retired.

Jay Joshi was the pick of the Divine Sindhis bowlers with four wickets.

But he was unable to contribute much with the bat. And with their other star batsman Ashish Bhandari too departing for only five the writing was on the wall for Divine who were restricted to 149 for 8.

Dhiraj Munjwani hiy a valiant unbeaten 51 and Hemant Baharnani chipped in with 32 but they never looked like threatening the Rockstars’ total especially after Behal and Manish Jethwani (4 for 24) kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

The next match between Petrochem Sindhi Kings and Chawla Sindhi Royals will be played on Wednesday.
