Chicharito 'out for two weeks' with injury
Mexico striker Javier Hernandez was hospitalised after suffering mild concussion in a training ground incident on Manchester United’s US tour and will be out for two weeks, the English champions announced.
Hernandez was hurt when taking part in training at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Tuesday ahead of United’s friendly clash with the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday.
“Chicharito sustained a mild concussion during training last night,” a club statement said.
“We have taken all the necessary precautions, which included an overnight stay in hospital. The manager will give further updates in due course.”
“He got concussion in training and we dealt with that,” said manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
“We took him to hospital, he had a scan, it was all clear.
“He is back in the hotel. He is in his room and will be out for a couple of weeks.
“He would never have been available for Barcelona anyway because he has just come back from his break after the Gold Cup.
“He will travel with us though. He is okay for that.”
The verdict would also appear to leave him out of the Community Shield clash with Manchester City on August 7
