Manchester United Soccer Schools kicks off in Abu Dhabi

Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) had its official kick-off in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, with a multi-national line-up of youngsters embarking on the first in a series of football programmes that will be run in the UAE capital.

While Manchester United fans around the world were still looking ahead to the club’s evening Premiership clash with Tottenham Hotspur, the first batch of children to enrol with MUSS went into action at the Dome@Rawdhat on Airport Road, Abu Dhabi.

Representing 13 nationalities, from the UAE to the USA, Italy to Indonesia, they are among thousands of UAE-based youngsters expected to pass through the superb coaching facility in Abu Dhabi that now wears the brand of the 11-times English Premiership champions.

The intention is that the unmistakable Dome, home of the UAE’s first air-supported indoor pitch as well as outdoor pitches, will become as synonymous with football excellence as Manchester United’s iconic Old Trafford stadium.

Youngsters enrolling in MUSS programmes in Abu Dhabi will be taught in the way that home-grown current United players like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, and former stars such as George Best and David Beckham, learnt their skills.
Aimed at young people aged between seven and 16, the MUSS programmes kicked off with a six-week course and ten-week courses will follow.

Accredited and certified MUSS coaches from the UK employ techniques similar to those used by Manchester United’s first team coaches. MUSS programmes are also aimed at developing the social skills applicable both on and off the field, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

Andy Dixon, MUSS head coach, said: “All our staff receive specific MUSS training and our programmes are of the quality and authenticity that you would associate with a club such as Manchester United. We use important moments from the club’s past and present to offer inspirational activity at all times.”

As a result of the new partnership with Reem Investments, MUSS programmes will be run exclusively in the UAE for two years. Under the terms of the agreement, Reem has the option to expand the partnership into other areas of the GCC.

Reem Investments developed the Dome@Rawdhat with the goal of creating a vibrant sporting community in Rawdhat on Airport Road in Abu Dhabi. More than 75,000 footballers from all ages and backgrounds have used the facilities since it was opened in October last year, and attendances will be boosted considerably by the arrival of Manchester United Soccer Schools.
