Cheerleaders return for Dubai Rugby Sevens

The hugely popular Aggreko Dynamo cheerleaders, who wow the crowds at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens each year, arrived in the city on Sunday ahead of this weekend’s tournament.

The team gave shoppers at Virgin Megastore a sneak preview of what to expect this coming weekend, performing a number of routines in the store last night and meeting with some of their fans.

The cheerleaders have become a major attraction at the tournament over the years and 2010 will be no different as the eight acrobatic dancers from Australia get set to entertain the Dubai public in between the international matches on pitch 1.

“It’s great to be back in Dubai. We love coming here each year and we are looking forward to putting on a great show for the awesome crowd here with some exciting new routines,” said the Dynamos’ choreographer, Amber Field.

“The Dubai Sevens is unlike any other event in the world because they have the Aggreko Dynamos! I am pumped for yet another thrilling tournament and can’t wait to be on the field for the finals,” added captain of the squad, Sally Isaac.

“This will be my second time in Dubai, and I'm even more excited than last year. I had a blast last time; I'm so thrilled to have this opportunity again. The crowd at the Rugby Sevens is the best,” added fellow squad member Jacinta Seivers.

Kate Lister added: “This is my fourth time to Dubai as an Aggreko Dynamo. I love this time of year and am super excited for the Sevens and to visit again… bring it on!”

Tickets to see the cheerleaders and the top 16 sevens teams on the planet in action this weekend are still available and will be on sale at the gate at The Sevens.

A free bus service for fans is available from The Sevens to locations across Dubai including Dubai Festival City, Dubai Media City (family drop-off points), Barzar (Madinat Jumeirah), Double Decker, Irish Village, Chi @ The Lodge, McGettigans Irish Pub (Jumeirah Lake Towers) and Barasti. Service starts from 5pm on Thursday and 7pm on Friday and Saturday.
