Dubai Sports Complex on schedule
Construction work on the new Dubai Sports Complex situated along Dubai Bypass Road which is due to host the short-course events of the World Swimming Championship later this year is going according to schedule.
A delegation from the Dubai Sports Council headed by Dr Ahmed Al Sharif visited the complex as part of their efforts to follow up and measure the standard of performance in sports corporations and facilities.
He was accompanied by Kiracos Jiano Poulos, Director of Dubai Sports Complex.
One of the most modern facilities in the world, the complex is designed to accommodate 15,000 spectators and host 10 Olympic sports including basketball, handball and volleyball plus several aquatic sports.
Abdul Hadi Pasha, one of the supervising engineers, explained in detail about the work's progress.
He assured the visiting delegation that work is being carried out as per specifications and said it would be completed on schedule.
Al Sharif expressed satisfaction on the progress of the complex. “The construction work is carried out as per the decided schedule and thus the work will be completed on time before the start of the World Swimming Championships – to be hosted by Dubai from December 15 to 19. We are optimistic that the complex will be so advanced and will reflect the great development of UAE in various sports fields,” he said.
“Dubai Sports Complex is a great step forward to attain a dramatic jump for sports in UAE,” he added.
The complex has four floors including offices of operations and management/offices for working committees.
It will also contain a media centre to be equipped with the most advanced technologies, several restaurants and other utilities to attract spectators.
