Gitex Shopper Dubai 'live' offers: Day 1 deals, discounts get hotter at dusk

For the record, the four-day consumer electronics extravaganza starts Wednesday, April 1, and will continue over the weekend until Saturday, April 4, 2015.

Here is what retailers and manufacturers are claiming about the deals, discounts, offers and bundles at the upcoming show.

Samsung

“Shoppers can look forward to exciting promotions and unbeatable deals,” said Marco Vocale, Head of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Gulf Electronics. Samsung is a platinum sponsor of the event, and promises to be out there in full force.

 

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge phones will be available for a hands-on experience and pre-order at Samsung’s stand, and visitors can also get a free Dh200 wireless charger along with them. In addition, Samsung will also unveil the Samsung SUHD TV at Gitex Shopper, which it claims has 64 times more colour and 2.5 times more brightness than conventional TVs.

The firm will also have a variety of offers on its home appliances range at the Gitex Shopper Smart Living, which runs simultaneously this year. It will demonstrate the Home of the Future by connecting Samsung Smart TVs, home appliances, smartphones and home security solutions, at the exhibition space.

“Visitors can also expect to see our slimmest smartphones to-date, the Samsung Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, along with our digital appliances and our smart TVs. Shoppers can look forward to exciting promotions and unbeatable deals,” said Vocale.

Obi Mobiles

Obi is a new smartphones manufacturer launched by ex-Apple CEO John Sculley. As a promotion partner for Gitex Shopper Spring 2015, Obi will showcase its range of smartphones at the event. It says it will offer deals of up to 40 to 50 per cent off on Obi devices, as well as value-added product bundles with accessories, two phones for the price of one, accessories and vouchers.
 

Jumbo Group

“We’ve lined up a number of different promotions this Gitex, including bundled offers and discounts. The demand for bundled offers is often higher, so we are focused on giving customers a selection of products at extremely attractive prices,” says Nadeem Khanzadah, Head-OmniChannel Retail, Jumbo Group.

“As always, our bundle offers include only high-quality products, which is what customers expect from our brand.”

Jacky’s Electronics

Jacky’s has been participating at Gitex Shopper for the past 15 years and at the Spring edition of the show since its inception. Citing the show as one of the most important events for interacting with loyal customers, Mahesh Chotrani, Assistant Vice President, Jacky’s Electronics, said: “Gitex Shopper Spring gives us an added opportunity to provide our customers with more value and an enhanced shopping experience. We are expecting quite a few launches of exciting products for this event, including the Samsung SUHD TV with nano-crystal technology.”

Plug Ins

“We shall be showcasing the latest and the best products with lots of unique value added bundles and benefits for the shoppers, as well as some incredible price drops on high demand products,” says Sean Connor, General Manager, Plug Ins.

“The team has worked on bringing in a pre-edited assortment which will help the shopper make easier and faster decisions. There are surprise elements and excitement built around giving a great memorable experience to the customers,” he says.

Toshiba

Toshiba will run a ‘Play To Win’ offer kin addition to a buyback offer. To make it a more exciting and fun-filled experience for consumers, Toshiba says it is exclusively presenting a buy-back offer during the event. As part of the offer, users can upgrade their old PCs and outdated operating systems and get the “best discounts” when buying a new Toshiba laptop, powered by Windows 8.1, it notes.

“We have special models for Gitex in the entry and mid-level segment which offer value for money to the customers with free Windows 10 upgrade and buyback option,” says Santosh Varghese,  General Manager of Toshiba Gulf.

Dell

“At Dell we are looking at showcasing some of our latest innovations which allow lighter notebooks, with immense battery life (up to 15 hours) with amazing 4k (Ultra HD) screen resolutions – all these provide a very high level of customer experience which our customers have come to expect from Dell,” says Rajat Rallan, Senior Brand & Category Manager, Dell Middle East.

“With the evolving customer experiences across various screen sizes, we see that our range of 2-in-1 convertible notebooks which combine PC performance with a Tablet experience, to be the best selling category across a range of screen sizes and price points,” he says.

Microsoft Devices

Microsoft Devices will launch their latest smartphone, Lumia 640 XL, in the region during the Gitex Shopper Spring. Lumia 640 XL customers will be able to access new Windows 10 features and innovation through the Windows Insider Program, as well as upgrade to Windows 10 later this year.

Key features and improvements of Windows 10 include new universal apps such as Office, Mail and Calendar, and Photos; Internet Protocol-based messaging from Skype and others integrated directly into the messaging experience; an entirely new browsing experience with the new Project Spartan browser; and extended integration of the Cortana personal assistant.

Lumia 640 XL also comes with a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, which includes the latest Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote).

Fly Mobiles

“Fly, with its Dubai based distributor Eurostar, will be offering some amazing offers, value bundles, and price revisions which the end consumer will definitely find appealing,” says Nitin Sood, Managing Director of Fly MEA.

“In addition, these bundles will not be limited to the Gitex venue or retailers, but also will be extended to the independent retailers. Other offers from Fly include the Iris 2 IQ 4490i dual Sim smartphone for Dh199, bundled with Eurostar EHP1003-H13 stereo headphones worth Dh49; Horizon 3- IQ 434 Android smartphone and the Horizon 1-IQ 238 smartphone, both offered bundled with a Bluetooth headset worth Dh59, for just Dh120.

Lenovo



“Gitex Shopper is one of the most anticipated consumer electronics shows in the region and we are excited to be offering the Lenovo S60 smartphone exclusively at Gitex Spring Shopper 2015, making it the latest addition to our extensive smartphone portfolio in the region,” said Sharay Shams, Smartphone Business Head for Lenovo Gulf, Egypt and Levant. The Lenovo S60 will be available for Dh799 at GITEX Shopper Spring 2015.

Microsoft plans to push its smartphone line-up this Gitex Shopper with a free 1-year subscription of MS Office. 

The company announced the launch of its latest smartphone, the Lumia 640 XL, in the region during Gitex Shopper Spring. 

“Although the device is priced at Dh799, Microsoft is directly providing bundle offers worth Dh750,” says Vithesh Reddy General Manager - Lower Gulf, Microsoft Devices.

The bundle offers include a one year subscription for MS Office, 1 TB cloud storage, 2 months of IC Flix and Dh100 voucher for Uber. 

The 5.7-inch phablet sized dual SIM smartphone is LTE-enabled and has a 720p display, quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot, 13MP camera at the rear and a 5MP shooter up front.

It also comes with a 3000 mAh battery life.

Lumia 640 XL customers will be able to access new Windows 10 features through the Windows Insider Program, as well as upgrade to Windows 10 later this year.

Reddy told Emirates 24/7 that Microsoft is going ahead with what could emerge as a game changing offer as he feels that Gitex Spring would emerge as a key shopping event matching the October edition of Shopper.

“For us, it is one of the most important events here in the region. We have gained a significant momentum during the past six months and plan to continue the momentum into the Shopper,” he says.

“The Lumia 535 is our best-selling model. Our most aggressive campaign will be on the just launched 640 XL. But expect a good interest in our other models, especially Lumia 730, 830 and our flagship model Lumia 930,” he says.
