UAE retailer begins pre-booking of 16GB BlackBerry 10 at Dh2,599

Even as the countdown for the BlackBerry 10 launch has begun, Axiom Telecom in the UAE has started accepting pre-booking for the handsets.

Customers will have to pay Dh2,599 for a 16GB handset. The handset will be available in white and black colours.

According to a sales executive at one of the stores, the handsets will be delivered between February 6 and  20.

“We are accepting orders over telephone as well. Customers can call us and give us the credit card details and we will charge the amount against confirmation of booking,” he said.

BlackBerry 10 will be launched today at 7pm UAE time simultaneously in New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Dubai, Johannesburg, Jakarta and Delhi.

SAP on Wednesday praised the enterprise app potential of the BlackBerry10 platform ahead of RIM’s official BB10 announcement later today.

SAP is among the companies set to have enterprise applications available to download from the launch.

Sam Alkharrat, Managing Director, SAP MENA, said: “We are having a very good experience developing enterprise-grade finance apps on the BB10 platform using the SAP Mobile Platform.  With the SAP Mobile Platform the mobile app development community can build apps that can run on both the new BB10 and the existing BlackBerry platforms and devices.”
