The messengers are up at it again with new data and figures being released about who is growing faster.
WhatsApp which is now Facebook owned has announced that its daily messages have increased to 64billion.
Line another messaging service that is gaining popularity too has come out with another announcement that as of April 1 the total amount of registered users across all platforms has surpassed 400 million.
BlackBerry which launched its BBM messenger to iOS and Android users yesterday (April 1) introduced new stickers and group photo sharing service in its effort to monetize the popular service.
BBM stickers and group sharing
Customers will be able to purchase and download sticker packs from the new BBM Shop found in BBM. To start, sticker packs will either be offered for free, or cost $1.99, or an approximate equivalent amount in the local currency, and will be billed through the device’s app store. Each sticker pack contains between 20 and 25 stickers.
The new group photo sharing feature will enable users to send higher quality photos, videos and presentations. While BBM users could send files only upto 6MB until now, the latest feature allows a user to send files up to 16MB.
LINE users make 12 million daily voice calls
Meanwhile, LINE which also allows users to make free calls says that more than 12 million calls are made globally every day using sits service.
Since the start of 2014 the daily usage of chat messages stands at 10 billion per day while the number of sticker messages has increased to 1.8 billion daily.
In February LINE added the call service that enables users to call landlines and cellular phones for low prices.
LINE messenger service was first launched on June 23, 2011 and last November it was announced that the total number of registered users exceeded 300 million. “In just 4 months after the last milestone of 300 million users, the amount of LINE users worldwide surpassed 400 million on April 1. Since the start of the new year the amount of countries with over 10 million registered users rose to a total of 10, including America, Korea, Malaysia, and Mexico,” the company said it its announcement.
WhatsApp handles 64billion daily messages
Not to be left behind in the headlines WhatsApp decided to simply tweet that it is much ahead in the race compard to both BlackBerry and LINE.
Its tweet simply said that it has achieved a new daily record of 20Billion messages sent (inbound) and 44B messages received (outbound) by its users taking the total to 64billion messages handled in just 24 hours. Earlier in January the company had announced that it had achieved the record of processing 50billion messages in a single day, registering an increase of 14 billion in two months.
