3.5-inch device mainly aimed at traditional BlackBerry fans
BlackBerry Classic, the latest device from the Canadian smartphone manufacturer has gone on sale in the UAE.
Priced at Dh1,799, the device was first introduced exclusively at the BlackBerry Store in Dubai Mall on December 25, and soon rolled out through other channels.
Etisalat started featuring it on their homepage and retailing it to customers from December 26 as part of an exclusive deal.
The 3.5-inch device is mainly aimed at traditional BlackBerry fans who swear by the QWERTY keypad.
The device introduces the same upgraded OS as that found in the BlackBerry Passport. With the 10.3.1 preloaded, the device allows its user to connect seamlessly with the desktop or a laptop through the BlackBerry Blend.
Device comes with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage
The device comes with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.
What stands out is the battery life. BlackBerry has ensured that the device lasts round the clock for more than a day.
This is the third device the Canadian smartphone maker has launched this year in an attempt to turnaround the company that once stood on par with Apple and the iPhone.
Yet despite various advancements, the company continues to struggle especially with its mobile devices facing a serious shortage of quality apps. Although the Classic comes preloaded with the Amazon App store to make it compatible with Android apps, the user experience is still lacking.
But for those who prefer safety over features, and for those who still use the phone for mainly email, messages and calls, BlackBerry Classic would be the perfect companion to take them through the New Year.
