Drydocks World launches AHTS vessel 'Pacific Defiance'

Drydocks World has announced that it has recently launched an Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel (AHTS) built at its Singapore facility in Tuas basin for Swire Pacific Offshore. The vessel was launched ahead of the scheduled date in September.

“We are delighted at the successful launch of the vessel, which adds to our portfolio of important projects carried out for the offshore services sector. We are proud that the team was able to meet the productivity targets and launch the vessel ahead of schedule. This has been largely possible due to the commitment and project management expertise of our technical team.,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.

Managing Director Neil Glenn said: “For Swire Pacific Offshore to continue to be successful we must consistently deliver safe, professional, high quality service to our customers.  We can only do this if, in turn, we are supported by partners who make an effort to understand our business.”

This ABS-classed vessel with a bollard pull of over 200 tonnes is powered by four engines combined with an azimuth thruster and four tunnel thrusters. There is a Main Towing Winch, CHDs and secondary winches with an Anchor Recovery Frame for meeting anchor handling requirements.

The vessel, designed by Havyard Design AS,  can accommodate 37 people.
