Ford recalls Explorer, Police Interceptor Utility vehicles in UAE

US-based automaker Ford’s UAE distributors have announced safety recall of two models sold in the emirates for interior door handle inspection and repair.

Dubai-based Al Tayer Motors and Abu Dhabi’s Premier Motors have announced recall campaign for certain 2011-13 Ford Explorer and 2013 Police Interceptor Utility vehicles manufactured in the US.

“In some of the affected vehicles, a crack may develop within one or more of the interior door handle assemblies, allow the handle return spring to become unseated. This may result in a loose interior door handle condition, and/or the interior door handle may not return to the fully closed position,” the distributors said in the announcement published in local media.

Under this recall, a total of 1,629 vehicles are estimated to be affected in the UAE, taking the number of vehicle recalls in the UAE to more than 43,300 so far this year.

The distributors claimed that they’ll contact the affected customers to inform them about the recall, offering them free of charge service if companies see the need to repair the interior door handle.
