Al-Futtaim Motors, distributor of Toyota in the UAE, has announced the launch of two new limited edition FJ Cruisers, the Xtreme and Street, that offer the legendary SUV’s fans a unique take on the ever popular vehicle.

Priced at Dh149,900 for the Xtreme and Dh164,900 for Street, the limited models are available in 5 speed automatic transmission and 4.0L V6 engine and will be offered across all Al-Futtaim Motors Toyota showrooms starting March 20th 2014.

Available for only 200 customers, the FJ Xtreme and FJ Street epitomise Waku Doki, a dose of excitement and fun that Toyota has been injecting in all recently launched models. A Japanese term for adrenaline rush, Waku Doki is clearly imbedded in the new enhanced appearance and performance of both the limited edition FJ Cruiser models.

The FJ Cruiser Xtreme earns its name by delivering an extreme off-road and desert driving experience, which eclipses the already legendary performance of the FJ Cruiser, whilst still delivering head turning style that can be proudly shown off when driving through the city.

The FJ Cruiser Xtreme comes with Fox stage 1 suspension, enabling motorists to drive on the most challenging terrains, stylish 16” Matt Black alloy wheels, radiant smoked LED front turn signal and tail lamps, front fog lamps & DRLs for enhanced visibility, rugged Bushwacker fender flares in addition to a hood scoop for better engine ventilation.

As for the limited edition FJ Street, it exhibits an imposing exterior through a chrome front grille, door handles and exhaust tip, in addition to 20” chrome alloy wheels, allowing the city driver to defy conventions and enjoy a car with a distinct character.

The Street version also comes with lower coil suspension for improved handling as well as front fog lamps and DRLs to enhance the drivers’ visibility when cruising through the city.

On the new limited editions, Jon Williams, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Motors said: “The FJ Cruiser has enjoyed a special relationship with the people of the UAE, ever since it was introduced in 2007, capturing significant attention from the younger drivers due to its retro appearance and excellent off-road performance. With the launch of these two limited edition models we want to offer something a little more personal to those who like to defy everything labelled as typical, conventional or expected.”

The Xtreme project is in collaboration with Arctic Trucks, the Icelandic company specialising since 1990 in modifying 4WD vehicles for special utility companies, police and military bodies, for use in remote locations, glaciers and the desert.

Cars modified by Arctic Trucks have been used on expeditions in the North and South Pole, over the glaciers of Greenland and on the erupting Icelandic volcano Eyjafallajökull.
