Arabic invoices at the UAE retail outlets will be made mandatory three months after signing the agreement between retailers and the Ministry of Economy's Department of Consumer Protection.

This was announced during a meeting held in the presence of Sultan Al-Mansoori, Minister of Economy and the Head of the Customer Protection Committee.

The committee said the ministry officials will visit outlets three months after signing the agreement to ensure that retailers are implementing the decision.

Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, Head of Consumer Protection section at the Ministry of Economy, told Emirates 24l7 that violators will face a fine between Dh5,000 to Dh100,000 for violating the law.

The decision was taken following complaints from consumers and it was decided to make Arabic invoices mandatory by the retailers.

Meanwhile, a new study has blamed seasonal factors for the abrupt rise in some consumer commodity prices like vegetables, fish and meat

The study conducted by the Ministry of Economy's Department of Consumer Protection Department and reviewed during a meeting of the higher consumer protection committee, highlighted a raft of measures, taken by the Department including intensive field tours of markets and outlets, to mitigate the impact of illogical increases in prices of many consumer commodities.
