Passengers using UAE airports will soon be required to pay a safety fee of Dhfive under a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE.
The decree, published in the official gazette, will be enforced on July 28 and it involves the levying of Dhfive as “a passenger security and safety services fee”, according to the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej.
The decision excludes children aged below two years, cabin crew members, transit passengers and 24-hour non-stop trips, the paper said.
“Under the decree, which will take effect on July 28, the fee is to be levied when the ticket is purchased no matter where the ticket is bought or issued…civil aviation authorities will levy the fee directly or through other parties.”
