TP Seetharam, the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to the UAE, visited the headquarters and plant of Conares- the leading provider of downstream steel products in the Gulf.

Bharat Bhatia, CEO of Conares received the ambassador at his office in Jebal Ale Free Zone (Jafza). Jyoti Bharat, Mathew Ambat, Bankim Parikh and other senior management officials of Conares were present at the occasion.

The Indian Ambassador led a high level 18-member delegation which comprised top executives of leading Indian companies who have been in Jafza for the last more than twenty years.

The-state-of-the-art plant of Conares covers an area of over one and half million square feet, and produces a total of 750,000 million metric tonnes steel products annually. This represents 15 per cent of the UAE market share in their specific steel segments.

The ambassador was able to see the strength of the $150 million worth Conares, which is now operational in two major segments of the industry and generates Dh1.2 billion annual revenues. Seetharam commended the investments that Indian entrepreneurs made in the UAE.

Indians have emerged as important investors in the Emirates. Several Indian companies have significantly contributed to the growth of industries and infrastructure development in the Gulf region.
