The new Lusail City being constructed in Qatar will have 200 towers and 27 hotels when it is completed in 2018 at a cost of 40 billion riyals ($11 billion), a newspaper in the gas-rich Gulf country said on Thursday.
“Lusail City will be home to 200 towers, 27 hotels and 37 schools..it will also have a hospital, two petrol stations and a metro network,” the Arabic language daily Sharq said, quoting Issa Kaldari, CEO of Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC).
He said nearly 40,000 workers are involved in the construction of the city, which is located nearly 25 km north of the capital Doha and will have a population of 260,000.
“The project’s infrastructure will be fully completed on time in 2018 and will cost QR40 billion…new land plots will be delivered to Qatari citizens this year and they could be allowed to build more hotels on them.”
Kaldari said LREDC has awarded contracts to the private sector to build five schools and would invite investors to build more schools in the near future.
He said Lusail metro would have 37 stations, which would be linked to the Doha metro, adding that most of the stations and tunnels have been completed.
