India’s Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) has re-appointed Kamal Vachani as Regional Director in the Middle East for the 15th consecutive year. It appreciated Vachani’s efforts in boosting exports to the region, according to a statement issued by the ESC.

The ESC is India’s premier trade promotion association for the electronics and computer software sector. It’s an autonomous organisation under the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. Kamal Vachani has been representing the council in the region since 1999.

“The ESC is very much satisfied with the efforts of Kamal Vachani in promoting India’s electronics and IT products to the Middle East. Vachani has been actively sponsoring IT delegations’ visits to the region. He also extends his sincere support to Indian companies for participation in trade shows in the region,” ESC Chairman Vinod Sharma said in the statement.

Latest data shows that India’s computer hardware exports to the Middle East increased more than three-fold during the last five years and the Middle East market was ranked top in terms of India’s computer hardware exports destination in fiscal year 2012-13, says DK Sareen, Executive Director of ESC.

“The Middle East is one of the important markets and has great potential for growth. We believe Indian electronics and its related services’ exports to the Middle East will be double in the next two years,” Vinod Sharma said.

On his part, Kamal Vachani said that the Middle East is one of the fastest growing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) markets in the world for Indian exporters. “I will continue my hard work to promote ‘Made in India’ products to the region.

Middle Eastern countries account for nearly 5 per cent of the total exports of Indian electronics goods, software and IT services and there is huge potential to make it at least 10 per cent in the next two years, Vachani said.

Kamal Vachani is also Group Director of Al Maya Group and President, Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) – Dubai Chapter.
