Qatar Cool, an affiliate of Abu Dhabi-based district cooling company National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) has signed a contract for the construction of fourth district cooling plant in the state.
Upon completion in 2016, the plant will provide cooling to residential and commercial towers in West Bay.
The plant is designed to deliver 40,000 tonnes of cooling, and the company said in a media statement that it will cut down energy consumption by approximately 50 per cent compared to conventional cooling, thereby leading to a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
Jasim Husain Thabet, Tabreed’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Qatar is a significant market for Tabreed as we look to continue to strengthen our regional footprint.”
