Dubai housewife robbed by door-knocking gang

Two jobless Emiratis along with an illegal resident allegedly knocked at a woman’s door during day time, enquired about a person and then pushed her inside the flat, beat her up and stole her bag, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, SD, told police someone knocked at her door on June 20 at about 10.30am. “I opened the door and saw four men, one of whom asked me about a woman. Then suddenly, they pushed me into the flat and got in.

“When I tried to shout for help, someone put a hand over my mouth. They beat me up and grabbed the necklace I was wearing. They took my bag, which contained Dh2,000, my passport and four mobile phones,” she said.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained on her arm and leg.

From the modus operandi and descriptions of the attackers given by a number of complainants in other robberies, police picked up AD, 20, and MN, 18 who admitted to the crime with the help of an illegal resident.

Dubai Prosecution asked the Court which will reconvene on September 19 to implement stiffest penalty against the accused.
