Indian electrician HS, 30, who forged a ‘no objection certificate’ for getting a driving licence, was sentenced to three months in jail.
The employer of the accused was on vacation when the latter obtained the driving licence.
“I was shocked to know when I came back from leave that HS had got a driving licence because I had not issued him an NOC,” the 58-year-old employer told investigators.
After learning about the licence, the employer went to Road and Transport Authority to find out who gave his staff the NOC.
“I found out with RTA that HS had submitted a letter on my company’s letterhead. I had never issued him such a letter,” he said.
The employer lodged a complaint with the police about the forgery.
The electrician admitted that he had forged the letter with another person to obtain a driving licence.
