The Sharjah Police have arrested a gang of five Pakistanis allegedly involved in a number of burglaries – specifically targeting money exchange houses.
A criminal investigation department (CID) official said the gang members were arrested red-handed while trying to break into a money exchange centre in Sharjah.
An alarm was set off at 3.30am at the operations room of Sharjah Police linking to the money exchange centre.
A police patrol which proceed to the centre found a number of masked men leaving the premises.
When they saw the police they ran away, but the police patrol chased and arrested two of them.
They confessed that they intended to steal cash from the exchange. Those who fled the scene were living at a farm in Dubai.
The Sharjah Police with the help of Dubai Police arrested the other two suspects.
They notified the police about the fifth suspect, who was arrested in Al Ain in co-ordination with Al Ain Police.
All the five suspects have been referred to Public Prosecution.
