Indian student run over in front of school

A minor Indian school girl lost her life when a speeding motorist ran over her just outside her school in Sharjah.

The 9-year-old died on the spot, reports Al Khaleej, quoting police sources.

Major Khaled Al Kayi, Director, Awareness and Media, Sharjah Police, said, the department got the information at about 1.30pm on Thursday.

Police team rushed to the site, but the child was already dead. The body has been transferred to Al Qassimi Hospital, he added.

She was a student of Al Azrah school.

The driver is being questioned.

Al Kayi urged motorists to respect traffic rules and slow down near schools.

This is the second incident in recent times. Earlier, another nine-year-old girl of Iranian Private School was injured when a car driven by an Indian woman ran over her as she was entering the school.
