Prison cook served drugs with meals

A long-serving Asian cook at Fujairah’s central prison will stay 10 more years—not as a cook any more but as a prisoner. The man was sentenced after he was caught distributing drugs to the prisoners.

After receiving a tip off, prison officials decided to watch the cook. Their suspicions came true when they found drugs wrapped in plastic paper concealed in the meals given by the cook to some inmates.

Fujairah’s criminal court also fined him Dh50,000 and ordered his deportation from the UAE after serving his jail term. One prisoner got additional four years for taking drugs and another was fined Dh1,000 for failing to report his friend.
