A truck driver and an alert senior Sharjah policeman were involved in a high-speed chase on the Dubai Bypass Road which ended in the truck driver being arrested.

What’s worse is that the trucker was fleeing an accident site, where he had already hit a vehicle and left a 24-year old Emirati, Mohamed Salem Ali Burahema, seriously injured.

The trucker may have gotten away with the accident, except that Major Ali Mubarak Zaabi, Director of Sharjah Police Station, was passing by at the time and saw what had happened.

Major Zaabi pursued the driver and after a chase that lasted 6kms, arrested him.

The victim of the accident, meanwhile, was rushed to the Al Qasimi Hospital, where he underwent four surgeries that took seven hours.

According to a Gulf Today report, his condition is stable.
