Supervisor accused of groping student on bus

A bus supervisor allegedly groped a six year-old student in the school bus, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Dubai Prosecution asked the court to raise the penalty against the accused, AKM, 23, Indian.

Hind, school student, testified that on February 12, the bus arrived to pick her, her brother Rashid, Noor, 7 and Walid, 4, from their houses.

“After getting into the bus, we asked the bus supervisor to allow us to get down as we had forgotten to take our pocket money. When he refused, we asked him to allow us to call my mother. But when he refused this also, we got upset and did not sit in our places but on the back seat of the bus.

“The supervisor called my brother Walid and asked him to go to him. Because my brother did not listen to him, he came to us and touched Noor’s and arm. She pushed him away. Then he held Walid and pushed him to the floor of the bus, making Walid cry.

“The supervisor opened his wallet and offered my brother Rashid one and a quarter dirham  but he refused to take it from him. He then touched my cheek and my arm and as we were about to get down from the bus, he held my brother Rashid and hugged him from the back and placed him on his lap.  We all pushed him and beat him, so he left Rashid. He wanted to get down the bus with us but we did not allow him.

“We went to supervisor Khulood and I asked her for permission to call my mother. When asked about the reason, I told her what happened in the bus. Khulood then called and informed my mother,” she testified.

The court will give its verdict on May 8.
