Two Indian men who turned unconscious after they were drugged say they were robbed of all their belongings and later abandoned in a deserted area in Al Ain.
The duo, partners in business - who own a garage in Ajman, say they were shocked to find themselves chained up in a police station in Al Ain, when they regained consciousness the next day.
Al Ain Police are investigating how the two men ended up in a deserted mountainous terrain and were also found drunk.
Narrating the series of incidents, Anil Kumar and Pavithran said they were approached by a Punjabi man who promised to help them obtain used oil, which is then recycled for almost 25 per cent cheaper then the market value.
The two were then asked to go to Al Ain for a meeting with the supplying company’s manager with at least Dh20,000. Upon arriving in Al Ain they were asked to park their vehicle and get into another car. They were then given coffee as refreshment. After that when they regained consciousness they found themselves in the prison.
Raju, a mutual friend of the two, told 'Emirates24|7' that it took them three days to find out the whereabouts of these men. “We were all a bit worried when we did not hear anything from them. We searched in all hospitals and police stations in Dubai and Northern Emirates and finally traced them in Al Ain prison.”
In total the men were robbed on Dh12,000 as cash apart from three mobile phones.
“The garage specialised in all tyre repairs and replacements and of late they were also obtaining used oil for recycling. The Punjabi men wha first visited the garage for a small repair, promised to get them used oil for a much lesser rate,” said Babu, who finally had to submit two passports at the AL AIn police station as guarantee for bail.
“These two are not very rich and had managed to sell and borrow the money that was stolen from them. Today they are really heartbroken,” he added.
