Junk turns out to be a 700-year-old sword

A Saudi man cleaning up his dead father’s room stumbled across an old rusting sword which turned out to be an antique item dating back nearly 700 years.

The man from the western town of Taif was about to dump the sword but curiosity prompted him to take it to a dagger and sword maker to learn if it is of any historical value.

“When the dagger maker cleaned the sword, he was shocked to find it is an art piece that is nearly 700 years old,” Altaif newspaper said.

“He told the man that the sword is invaluable as it carries unreadable letters…the man then took it to many experts but they could not read those letters…he decided not to sell the sword and keep it as a precious piece of history.”
