Kendo Kaponi charged with beating up woman

Police are investigating a domestic violence complaint against the Puerto Rican urban music artist known as Kendo Kaponi.

The police report states that 32-year-old Fernando Rivera Morales allegedly struck his companion several times in different areas of her body around 3 am Sunday. Police said Rivera Morales has not been detained but that authorities are investigating the case.

He was sentenced in May to 40 days in jail on four contempt charges for failure to appear in court to face to two domestic violence charges, according to local press reports.

Rivera Morales began writing songs at 18 and then started performing as Kendo Kaponi.

He has worked with some of reggaeton's biggest artists and had recording contracts with companies run by stars Don Omar and Cosculluela.
