Dr. Conrad Murray will not testify at his trial for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
The personal physician confirmed he would not take to the witness stand when Judge Michael Pastor asked if he was aware of his constitutional right to testify or remain silent today (01.11.11).
Responding, Dr. Murray said: "My decision is not to testify."
He was then asked again by the judge, and he answered: "My decision is that I will not testify in this matter."
Judge Pastor queried: "You are making this decision on your own free will?"
Murray said: "Yes."
Defence attorney Ed Chernoff confirmed he had discussed the issue many times with Murray, and said he understood his rights "very well".
Had he taken to the stand, it is believed he would have come under a strong cross-examination from prosecutors after witnesses claimed a number of times he had lied and taken bad medical decisions in the care of Michael, who died of an overdose of anaesthetic Propofol on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.
Dr. Murray has pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter of the 'Thriller' hitmaker, and could face four years in prison should he be found guilty.
