Dubai departures, arrivals resume

LATEST:  After the resumption of departure operations of Dubai International Airport at 6.30pm UAE time, the runway has also been opened for the flights arriving at the airport.

"AFter the resumption of departure operations at 1830 hours, Dubai Airports has now commenced arrival operations at DXB under restricted capacity. DXB  is operating with one runway, with arriving flights being given priority over departures," Dubai Airports spokesperson said.

Dubai International resumed departure operations starting 1830hrs UAE local time with larger aircraft given first priority, said spokesperson.

Dubai Airports can confirm that all operations (arrivals and departures) at Dubai International have been suspended until further notice following the incident this afternoon involving Emirates airline flight EK521. Dubai Airports will issue an update on the status of operations at DXB at 1700hrs.

Dubai Airports, in their statement, informed that “operations at Dubai Airport have been affects with all departing flights delayed until further notice”.

A quick look at the Dubai Airport official website showed the list of flights delayed and cancelled.

Flight PK204 to Lahore which was set to depart at 1240pm has been delayed.

Flights that were reported to take off at 1pm – FlightEK572 to Kolkata, RJ611 to Amman, EK502 to Mumbai and flight GF505 to Bahrain have been delayed.

Flight FZ229 to Basra, which was estimated to take off at 1.20pm has been delayed, so has flight KU672 to Kuwait.

Flight FZ057 to Kuwait has been cancelled.

Earlier the Dubai Airports spokesperson confirmed that “Emirates airline flight EK521 arriving from Trivandrum was involved in an incident during landing at Dubai International at 1245pm.

“Emergency response teams have been activated and all passengers and crew have been safely evacuated.”

Emirates flight EK521 from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai was involved in an accident today at Dubai International Airport, resulting in a delay in other flights taking off from the world's busiest airport,

"Dubai Airports can confirm that Emirates airline flight EK521 arriving from Trivandrum was involved in an incident during landing at Dubai International at 1245pm. Emergency response teams have been activated and all passengers and crew have been safely evacuated. Operations at DXB have been affected with all departing flights delayed until further notice," a Dubai Airport spokesperson said.

Update: Check-in systems at Dubai Airports have come back online according to passengers at Terminals 1 and 3, even as flights are being diverted to other local airports.

Family member of one passenger aboard Jet Airways flight 9W536 said the Mumbai-Dubai flight has been diverted to Fujairah International Airport.

Passengers are being advised to check arrival status of flights with Dubai Airports.
