Forbes Arabia has just unveiled its list of Arab Billionaires for 2009, revealing that the combined wealth of the 34 individuals fell by an estimated 35 per cent during the past year.

Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Alsaud topped the poll with a wealth of $13.3 billion (Dh48.9bn).

The UAE, with a combined wealth of $21.4bn of its six billionaires, was ranked second.

Footballer Joe Cole has made £2.5 million (Dh13.5m) in profit after selling his luxury villa in Dubai. According to the Daily Mirror, he bought the place for £1m in 2002 before heading to Japan for the World Cup.

It seems that releasing abysmal films such as Ghostrider can have an effect on the bank balances of even the biggest actors. Nicolas Cage has just sold his 500-year-old Bavarian castle in Germany for $2.3 million (Dh8.4m).

Freida Pinto has reportedly become the highest paid actress in Bollywood. According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, the Slumdog Millionaire star's earnings have topped £2 million (Dh10.8m) so far.

The soon-to-be longest running sitcom on TV, The Simpsons, is set to mark another spot in history. Later this month, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will appear on a set of US postage stamps valued at $0.44 (Dh1.62).
