Airbus Middle East has signed a two-year contract to provide storage and handling services at its new centre in Dubai to Satair, which distributes production parts and spares for aircraft.
The Airbus Material and Logistics Centre at the Dubai Airport Free Zone includes an avionics and electronics repair station and provides state-of-the-art business centre services as well as office and storage facilities for original equipment manufacturers.
"The decision gives us proximity to our customers, which is essential when it comes to providing efficient supply chain solutions to enable commercial and technical support with optimised delivery lead times – the core value Satair aims to provide," said CEO John Staer.
Centre Director Joerg Helmerichs said the signing of the contract marked the beginning of a long-term commercial relationship between the companies.
"We are proud of the confidence displayed by Satair in joining our Vendor Village, a partnership that reinforces Airbus's commitment to serve the airline industry in the Mideast," he added.
The centre was opened in April and gives Airbus closer access to customers and the ability to respond more quickly to their needs. It covers 3,700 square metres of floor area and operates 24 hour a day, stocking more than 5,000 parts and 43,000 items at any one time for distribution to regional and worldwide destinations.
