Air Arabia's operations would not be impacted by the suspension of Nepal's carrier FlyYeti.com's operations, the Sharjah-based low cost carrier said yesterday.
"The suspension of FlyYeti.com operations will have no impact on Air Arabia, which will continue to offer service to and from Nepal as per its regular flight schedule," Air Arabia's spokesperson Housam Raydan told Emirates Business.
Launched on January 20, 2008, FlyYeti.com is a joint venture and independent airline in Nepal, whose major stake is owned by Air Arabia.
On June 29, the airline announced the suspension of its operations in Nepal beginning mid-July, in light of the ongoing political developments in the country.
"The current uncertainty – combined with a difficult operating conditions in Nepal and a presently opaque regulatory environment, has led the management of FlyYeti.com to decide that it is in the best interest of the company and its passengers to temporary suspend operations," the Nepal-based carrier said in a statement on its website.
The sole route that FlyYeti.com operated to is Sharjah, according to Raydan. "Air Arabia will continue offering its daily services between Kathmandu and its primary hub in Sharjah," he said.
The management of FlyYeti.com, due to the current uncertainty in Nepal, has decided that it is in the best interest of the company and its passengers to temporary suspend operations, Raydan said.
"But Air Arabia will continue to offer its regular services across its route network," he said.
