Saudi Arabia-based National Air Services (NAS) is looking to expand into India and start serving seven destinations, a senior company executive told Emirates Business.

According to the executive who did not want to be named, NAS Air will operate seven destinations to India, of which, four are due to begin operations by July this year.

"We are really bullish on India and will be introducing four routes to the country by July," the executive said, adding that for the purpose, NAS would be taking delivery of two aircraft from Embraer. The company executive also said that NAS was "exploring Pakistan as a potential market" for the near future.

Meanwhile, NAS Air last week signed an agreement for co-operation and training with Middle East Academy of Aviation of Jordan. A Al Shabanah, Executive Director, Group Human Resources and Administration at the National Air Services Company (Nasair's holding company), said: "Nasair's aim was to implement a broad and ambitious programme to build a new generation of technically qualified young Saudis to work in the field of civil aviation and this agreement represents the first stage in this programme."

He added the agreement covers the technical and qualitative training of 100 young Saudi nationals with commercial pilot's licences to work as commercial pilots.

Recently, the company partnered with an internet portal, booking.com, a major European online service company. According to the company executive, passengers can now gain access to the portal's inventories of more than 57,000 hotels in more than 15,000 destinations in Europe.
