The Ajman Marina management has signed a Dh150 million agreement with China Harbour Engineering to develop the project's infrastructure.

The agreement was signed by Abdullah Al Majed, Ajman Marina, board Member and head of the project's executive committee, and Li Guo Wei, General Manager of China Harbour Engineering.

Al Majed said: "The appointment of China Harbour Engineering to develop vital civil engineering and infrastructure works for the Ajman Marina represents a major step forward for the development. We are delighted to have China Harbour Engineering working with us on this prestigious development, and we are confident that their excellent track record and their industry standing and expertise will be invaluable at this vitally important phase of the project."

In addition to the contract with China Harbour Engineering, the Dh9 million consulting contract for Ajman Marina has been awarded to Mouchel, who will act as managing consultants for the development works and supervise and manage the 390,000 cubic metres of digging and piling works and the 557,000 cubic metres of filling works for the Marina's quay. Once completed, the quay wall will extend over approximately 1,700 metres. The work will start in the third quarter of the current year and are expected to continue for 18 months.

The $3 billion (Dh11bn) Ajman Marina is one of the largest touristic, residential and commercial projects in Ajman. Upon completion, the project will offer 8,000 freehold residential units, covering 14million square feet of built-up area, as well as a number of commercial and entertainment facilities extending over three million square feet. Last year, projects under development in Ajman amounted to Dh 580m, while completed projects were valued at Dh500m.

Also, there were numerous maintenance-related projects, valued at Dh174m, including maintenance and renewal of the emirate's vital road network, as well as several infrastructure projects, including the recently announced Dh800m water drainage processing station project.
