Emirates International Maritime Academy (Eima) announced that it has reached an Agreement of Collaboration with Newcastle University for specialised maritime studies and education in the UAE and the region.
The agreement will enable students to pursue an MSc in Marine Technology.
The programme enables graduate professionals working in the marine industry to gain the necessary skills in advance marine technologies, management and business operations. Besides the academic programmes Eima said it would provide a range of competency and professional programs of education and training to meet the manpower requirements of the merchant marine, off-shore and the shore-based maritime industries.
Captain Jaafar bin Sidin, Director of Eima, said Eima is fully committed to supporting regional capacity building in maritime education, applied research and development for maritime professionals and experts.
Professor Ella Ritchie, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning at Newcastle University, said: "For the university, it is a major step towards achieving our international expansion strategy, attracting some of the best graduates in the world, and raising our reputation as a world-class university."
