Kerala in talks for Vizhinjam terminal

The Indian state of Kerala has decided to explore the possibility of setting up the Vizhinjam International Seaport Terminal in association with the Barcelona Port Authority.

Media report said discussions were held between Kerala's Port Minister M Vijayakumar and Jesus Del Rio, Director-General of Foreign Trade, Barcelona on Friday, where it was decided to continue negotiations for setting up the port. The next round of discussions will be held in New Delhi.

The team led by Jesus Del Rio visited the proposed site for the international port and attended a high-level meeting with officials of Vizhinjam International Seaport. Jesus Del Rio has promised an inter-governmental corporation for the project, rather than involving private companies.
