With the container export market getting stronger, United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has announced that it is implementing a rate restoration and peak season surcharge to various locations.

In a recent statement, the company said it will implement rate restoration for vessels from Asia to North Europe, West Mediterranean and Adriatic Trade. There will be a rate restoration of $200 (Dh734.6) per TEU with effect from June 15, 2010, and will be based on bill of lading date, it added.

The UASC recently announced a conclusion of a bilateral transaction of KD25 million (Dh319.5m) unsecured term-loan facility from Gulf Bank – Kuwait. The company said the funds will be invested in financing UASC's expansion plans in relation with its container vessel new building programme valued at $1.6 billion at Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Korea.
