Rera begins inspection of unregistered brokerages

The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera) to the Land Department in Dubai has started, in co-operation with Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), the inspection of real estate brokerage firms that are not registered with Rera.

The inspections come as part of Rera's plans to regulate real estate professions in Dubai and to streamline real estate activities for individuals and companies in an organised legal framework, which bolsters real estate dealings and contribute to transparency of transactions.

Yousef Al Hashimi, Director of Licensing at Rera, said there is an agreement between Rera and DED to carry out daily inspections on offices of real estate brokers to examine their registration with Rera and urge them to register after looking into the registration conditions and mechanisms.

He said the inspections will cover offices that practice real estate activities and licensed by free zones in Dubai.
