Malls welcome Eid promotion

The launch of the Eid in Dubai shopping festival has been welcomed by retailers who say it will reinforce the position of Dubai as the region's most attractive tourism destination.

Mall bosses said the new initiative by the Dubai Shopping Festival Office (DSFO) would boost the retail sector during the Eid Al Fitr period.

"The private sector has been our main partner during the many activities we have organised in Dubai and its contribution to the success of the initiatives launched by the Dubai Government is beyond doubt," said Laila Suhail, the DSFO's CEO. "The close coordination between the private and public sectors will play a vital role in making the inaugural Eid in Dubai a resounding success."

Essa Adam, Head of the Dubai Shopping Malls Group, said: "Shopping malls witness constructive competition during this festive period and draw in a diverse range of shoppers. With such buoyant retail activity existing during Eid the new initiative will significantly contribute in increasing the visitor base by attracting tourists."

Tawheed Abdullah, Managing Director of the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, said: "Such momentous initiatives launched by the government strengthen the position enjoyed by Dubai on the world tourist map."
