Regional confectionary manufacturer Mars GCC yesterday said it has expanded its office in the Jebel Ali Free Zone at a cost of Dh10 million. The new office has been under construction since November 2008, doubling the size of Mars GCC office space, it said in a statement.

Mars associates have tripled in number over the past 10 years to reach almost 300 associates, it said.

Ahmed Bayoumi, General Manager for Mars GCC, said: "Mars GCC investment in the office expansion reinforces our commitment to the region and reflects the company's continuous growth despite tough economic conditions all over the world. Mars GCC has tripled the number of its associates over the last decade and the need for a new office space became a necessity. The expansion has doubled the size of our current office and provided our associates with a comfortable and environmentally friendly work space."

Committed to being environmentally responsible, the new office's layout was designed to increase the use of natural light, thus saving power when needed during low light conditions, the statement said. Waterless urinals in all men's bathrooms and sensor taps in washrooms have been installed to decrease water consumption. Recycling boxes for paper, mobile phones, batteries and cans are placed throughout the office to encourage recycling.

Established in Dubai in 1993, Mars GCC's local factory manufactures a range of Galaxy chocolates.
