Open source software company Red Hat has announced plans to set up an office in Dubai.
Open source solutions are computer programs or operating systems for which the source code is publicly available.
The new office will provide support for the California-based company's customer base in the Middle East and Africa.
Red Hat has appointed Anuj Kumar as General Manager for the region. He was previously responsible for sales and marketing for business customers and helped set up branches in Chicago, Dallas and Denver.
Red Hat's client base in the region includes companies in the telecommunications, banking, government and oil and gas sectors. Arabtec, the UAE-based construction company, is among its customers.
"Red Hat has a great reputation for delivering market-leading open source solutions and the office in Dubai will help us meet the growing demand for Red Hat solutions," said Kumar.
