Intel Corporation announced yesterday the launch of Xeon 5500 server processors in the Middle East market. With this, Intel has launched 17enterprise-class processors in the global market.
Previously codenamed as Nehalem-EP, the new processor 5500 improves system speed significantly and includes the Intel Turbo Boost Technology, Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, integrated power gates and Next-Generation Intel Virtualisation Technology (VT).
"The Intel Xeon processor 5500 series is the foundation for the next decade of innovation. The size has been shrunken and we have introduced new architecture integrating memory controllers. The new range of chips will cater to the ever-increasing demands of science and technology applications," said Ferhad Patel, regional market development manager for Middle East, Turkey and Africa, Intel Corporation.
Mentioning the EDC forecast that projected that more than 15 billion devices would be connected to internet by 2015, Patel said: "Intel Xeon 5500 processor series will also power an upcoming transformation for the internet infrastructure."
