When the likes of Nicole Kidman, Tiger Woods and Will Smith are sending racy texts to partners and lovers, what hope for the rest of us?
Indeed, some believe sex texts can spice up one’s love life.
Cosmopolitan magazine even offers a list of suggestions on its website, among the tamest being: “My roommate is out of town. Let's throw a party tonight - for two.”
But a new poll says that a large portion of ‘sex texters’ message the wrong person. In the United Kingdom, 20 per cent of people polled in a SellMyMobile.com survey said they had sent racy texts to the wrong person, and nearly one in 10 was been caught red-handed "sexting," Reuters reported.
Under-25s are the most careless, with 43 per cent admitting to sending fruity texts to the wrong contact. Men and women were equally guilty.
"Text and picture messaging has now become so second nature that people are less cautious, leading to messages frequently going astray," said Keir McConomy, Managing Director of SellMyMobile.com which commissioned the survey.
"A key aspect of text messaging is that it allows a more detached method of communication. This was part of its initial popularity and a likely explanation for the large number of people willing to send out explicit content."
The survey of 1,097 mobile phone users also revealed that one in five respondents fail to wipe their phones of personal content such as contacts, messages and pictures before selling, giving away or recycling their mobiles.
But “sexters” in the UAEāmust be careful. Two staff from Emirates Airlines were sentenced to imprisonment for three months in Dubai earlier this year because they sent sexually explicity SMS messages to each other.
