- Glass-bottom boat rides

The aquarium at The Dubai Mall is offering visitors a chance to experience the 220 species in its tank from a glass-bottom boat. Gaze through the floor and see gigantic rays, tiger sharks and other magnificent marine life. Each boat has a guide to help visitors make the most of the trip by telling them more about the sea life, as well as reassuring those with a nervous disposition. It's bizarre at times, but where else can you be in a boat, in a huge fish tank in a mall?

- Perfect your swing indoors

Price: Dh180 per hour

For those of you not prepared to sweat it on the greens of the UAE's real courses, Scarlett's Golf Lounge in Emirates Towers is offering a hi-tech simulator for keeping up your game during the summer months. It might not be Turnberry but there is an imitation fairway, a bunker to pitch off and a set of different clubs to choose from. A sensor picks up the swing and there's even a driving range.

- Summer nights at Aquaventure

Price: Dh175 adults, Dh100 children

Every Thursday evening through the summer months from 8pm to midnight explore the water thrills of the park. Slide down the immense Ziggurat through a shark-infested lagoon, ride the water rapids and white water chargers or for a gentler experience, younger visitors can plunge into Splashers, a playground for the little ones.
