Grab a bargain this Month

With the economic slowdown affecting the aviation industry is it any wonder airlines across the region are looking for ways to entice customers? Here are some of the bargains to be had this month.


Fly Emirates to or via Dubai between May 15 and September 15 and enjoy a complimentary stay at The Address Downtown Burj Dubai. Those travelling first class can take advantage of two nights' accommodation in a premier room, while business class customers will receive one night's accommodation, on a bed and breakfast basis. Emirates Skywards' has launched a new bonus miles promotion to more than 80 cities including London, Mumbai, New York, Johannesburg, Zurich, São Paulo and Perth. Skywards members can earn triple miles in first and business class and double miles in economy class on selected flights. Register for this promotion and travel by June 30 on an eligible Emirates flight.

Etihad Airways has launched what it calls "e-Deals", which will be available on the airline's website every Monday and Tuesday. They offer UAE residents low airfares to different cities each week. On offer this week return tickets from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain, Damascus, Amman, Beirut and Cairo from Dh40, to New Delhi from Dh100, and to London, Munich and Casablanca from Dh200. Travel must be completed by May 18.

Qatar Airways is giving away offers for select cities through its website. Return tickets from Abu Dhabi to Moscow start from Dh750, to Athens from Dh830, to London from Dh930, and to Vienna from Dh1060. Return flights from Dubai to Manchester start from Dh990, Paris from Dh1,200, and New York from Dh1,990. All bookings have to be made before May 15, and are valid for travel on or before May 31.

For those travelling from Kuwait, Gulf Air is offering return flights from Kuwait to Delhi starting at Dh239 and to Istanbul from Dh990. Travel must be completed by 15 June 2009.
